Contemporary art creations in public spaces

The Middelheim Museum also offers a platform for showing artistic creations in a non-conventional context, outside of the museum park’s boundaries. In so doing, the museum wants to introduce contemporary art into the public’s life. At the same time, it also wants to provide a springboard for artists who have not (yet) been picked up by the traditional circuit. These are temporary and (semi-)permanent interventions.

De Sokkel

The Klein Antwerpen community association and the Middelheim Museum have added a cultural touch to Antwerp’s central park with this project since 2011.

Driesnellenstraat, 2060 Antwerp

Head over to Driesnellenstraat in Antwerp’s ‘den Dam’ neighbourhood to see an original artwork: a light sculpture with a text in the form of a bird. The artwork was installed at the neighbourhood’s request and enhances the street’s appearance.
