Permanent collection

The Middelheim Museum collection features approximately 1800 works of art, collected over a period of more than 50 years. Works date from around 1900 to the present and provide an excellent international overview of modern and contemporary art.

The collection expands every year. There are 239 sculptures in the park. Visitors can see the works of such major artists as Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Rik Wouters, Isa Genzken, Chris Burden, Andrea Zittel, Ai Weiwei, Barbara Hepworth, Bruce Nauman, Germaine Richier, Erwin Wurm, Richard Deacon and many others under stately trees, lining wide walking trails and on inviting lawns.

Discover the highlights

A number of artworks in our wider collection are definitely considered relevant for art history.

New acquisitions and loans

The collection is continually expanding. Works are added to the collection following acquisitions, donations or loans.

Restoration and conservation

The changing weather conditions, pollution and unfortunately also vandalism all leave their mark on our statues, buildings and the park.
