“The museum has an outstanding collection. I always recommend it to foreign guests.”
Kaat Debo, director MoMu Antwerp

“When I need some peace and quiet, I hop on my bike and ride to Middelheim Park with a book and/or a notebook. I always find a quiet place to sit among the hundreds of sculptures.”
Nigel Williams

“Art and nature in one place. It never fails to cheer you up. Walk across Ai Weiwei’s bridge as you inhale the first sweet breath of spring and see some more amazing artworks by Henry Moore, Auguste Rodin, Panamarenko and Erwin Wurm.”
Goesting Magazine

“I was used to playing in the woods and visiting museums because my parents used to visit museums with us from a very young age. But here I discovered the best of both worlds and I loved it. We used to play among the artworks and do things with them that we weren’t really supposed to do (…) I like the combination of the portrayal of man and nature. I think this is one of the most ambitious places in Antwerp.”
Thomas Vanderveken

"If people come from abroad to visit, I always take them with me to the Middelheim Park ... You should definitely have seen this park. All the statues in the beautiful nature. That mix between modern and old statues. I'm proud of it."
Dimitri Leue

Impressive and controversial

The Middelheim Museum collection features approximately 1800 works of art, collected over a period of more than 50 years. Works date from around 1900 to the present. As a collection, it provides an excellent international overview of modern and contemporary art. New works are added to the collection every year. There are 239 sculptures in the park by major artists such as Auguste Rodin, Rik Wouters, Henry Moore, Juan Muñoz, Carl Andre, Panamarenko, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, Isa Genzken, Barbara Hepworth and many others. Stately trees, broad paths and inviting grassy clearings complete the vista.

The Middelheim Museum, which is free, welcomes around 300,000 visitors each year, making it one of the major cultural attractions of Antwerp.

A tailor-made outreach programme

The museum also hosts a wide range of activities for young and old, individually or in groups. Workshops and crafts, guided tours and walks, courses ... there is something for everyone. We welcome connoisseurs and art lovers, students, hikers and joggers, families, ... in short, anyone who wants to learn about, wants to be inspired by, or simply want to enjoy modern and contemporary sculpture in a beautiful park.

Researchers and students are also more than welcome to contact us in the framework of their research.
